Endorsements

I can't adequately express how humbling it is to have people believe in you enough that they will write genuine and meaningful endorsements for your campaign.

Here is some of what people have said about why they would like to see me returned to City Council on Monday, October 27, 2014:

Laura is both principled and pragmatic. She is a doer and a thinker. These are critical traits of an effective city councillor.
John Armstrong, President, Armstrong Strategy Group

Laura Ip is feisty, smart, and dedicated. She does not accept quick fixes to problems, because she's not afraid to roll up her sleeves and tackle complex, sometimes messy, issues. Most importantly, she speaks up for others and makes an important contribution to building a great city.
Kate Bezanson, Chair, Sociology Department, Brock University

It's hard to find an honest, hard-working politician, with empathy for the tax payer. I've found such a candidate in Laura Ip, who is committed to good governance, as councillor for St. George's Ward. It's guaranteed that Laura Ip will listen to your concerns, and do her best to continue to move council in the right direction.
David Boese, Resident of St. George's Ward

In her time on Council, Laura Ip has demonstrated that she is an independent thinker who knows the importance of balancing the fiscal and social needs of both residents and businesses. In addition to advancing the needs of St. George's Ward, I know Laura is an advocate for continuing the revitalization of downtown; will work to correct the problem in Port Dalhousie; and generally ensure that well thought out decisions are made for the city.
Bill Burke, Owner/Governor, Niagara Ice Dogs

I support Laura Ip for St. Catharines City Council, because she is passionate, hard-working, experienced, and reasonable. Through her initiative to look at adopting a living wage for St. Catharines, and her volunteer work for Community Care, she has demonstrated that she cares about the less fortunate in this city and is willing to work to help them. We need more politicians like this!
Brian Gasbarini, Owner, Rise Above Restaurant

I wish I lived in Laura Ip's ward because there's no question she would have my vote. She's smart, has vision and as someone with a young family, she has come up with a platform that not only promises to build a better St. Catharines now but also for future generations. I've known Laura for several years and I know she is not afraid to speak up for what is right. She is someone who is on the voter's side, accessible to her constituents but also concerned with St. Catharines' needs as a whole. The city's future is bright with Laura at the city council table.
Tiffany Mayer, Author and Founder, Garden of Eating - Niagara

During her time on City Council, Laura Ip has demonstrated her commitment to residents of St. George’s Ward and the community at large. I would like to see Laura continue her efforts to build a stronger St. Catharines by focusing on sustainability, fiscal responsibility, and citizen engagement.
Brian McMullan, Mayor, City of St. Catharines (2006-2014)

When I needed to get some direction as to how to address a problem on my property, I called Laura and was almost stunned into silence when she answered her own phone on the second or third ring, rather than getting a machine or an assistant. Laura listened to my concern, and told me that she or someone else would get back to me in a few days with an answer. By the next morning, not only did I have an answer, but I was on my way to a solution. I appreciated Laura's availability, her follow through and her follow up. It's the kind of access and accountability we need in government.
Lisa Petty, Resident of St. George's Ward

Laura Ip is very energetic and has excellent communication skills. She has also shown herself to be quick to understand and respond well to the intricacies of municipal situations.
Dave Shantz, P.Eng., Retired City Engineer for Welland

I first met Laura when she came into my campaign office in the Autumn of 2006 when she was running for St. Catharines City Council and I was running for Mayor. She wanted to get my take on the municipal issues of the day and give me the chance to learn more about her. It was a very pleasant conversation, and while neither of our campaigns resulted in wins that year, I knew she was someone to keep an eye on. That view was only re-inforced when, later on, I attended an all-candidates’ meeting and listened to her measured, responsible, well-informed answers to questions posed of her.
I was delighted when she joined City Council earlier this year and very happy when she announced her wish to return to Council in the upcoming election.  The people of St. George’s Ward and St. Catharines will be well-served by Laura should she be returned to City Council.
Laura is part of a new generation of St. Catharines leadership which, I am sure, will move this City and Region forward to a bright future.
